New Coronavirus 18/03/2020

Dear Parents,

Though there have been no confirmed cases of staff virus, a number have been required to self-isolate due to personal health issues whilst other with any flu like ailments remain at home as a precautionary measure.

On a daily basis, we shall have to measure pupil absence against available staff before deciding if we need to close certain classes.

We had decided yesterday that dosbarth Rhiannon would have to miss one day of schooling. This message was not delivered by our comms system and by this morning we shall re asses after counting  heads. We are likely to have to consider class closure again before this virus runs its course.

We shall, of course provide you with as much warning as possible if we are forced into any other class closures

Dosbarth Gwern

One of the cycle tutors has self-isolated due to family member illness. For this reason, Gwern’s classroom will unavailable today as it will be deep cleaned by the authority

New Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Parents / Guardians,

Although no cases have yet identified at the school, we wish to assure you that measures are being taken in accordance with current advice from the United Kingdom Chief Medical Officer. As a school, we continue to promote good hand and respiratory hygiene ( Using a tissue / elbow when sneezing). Please support this at home. More advice and information can be found here.

Please ensure that your child brings a personal labeled water bottle to school. This should be returned home and washed each night. Staff are directed not provide shared plastic cups in class.

Our Breakfast Club, Cymer Ofal and clubs will operate normally, for the time being. We shall be delaying parent consultations and school trips until next term. The Urdd has postponed the Eisteddfod for a year and rehearsals will not continue.

We are adhering to current advice and remain open. We may be directed to close in the coming weeks. We have a robust ‘Business Continuity Plan’ in place and in preparation for such a situation. Staff are in the process of producing learning materials that can be easily accessed through online platforms such as HWB

I’m sure you are aware that the protocol of “social isolation” in a school is very difficult to introduce, however, our program for services in the hall, will be delayed for the foreseeable future.

For IEP interviews I have asked staff to ensure you have 2m between attendees. Please wash your hands thoroughly before and after the meetings. You will need a personal pen to sign the paperwork.

If you would prefer to receive an electronic copy of the paperwork instead of attending the meeting please do not hesitate to contact the office.

Thank you for your understanding and co-operation as we continue to work together to provide a safe environment for our school community.

Yn gywir,
